Nozawa Onsen is a village located in the Chūbu region of Japan. As of 2016, its estimated population has reached 3,480.
The village is an hour drive from Nagano City since its location is in the mountainous northeastern Nagano Prefecture. The place offers various attractions to locals and tourists such as the monkey park, hot springs, and the famous Nozawa Onsen Snow Resort. The snow resort is a skiing venue visited by thousands for its beginner-friendly course. A 10km course is also offered to the professional skiers. The fine powdery snow is another selling point of the resort.
The village has also hosted the 1998 Winter Olympics biathlon event.
