Everyday at 6:30 AM, Radio Taiso, which literally translates to radio exercises, is broadcasted on television, radio and the internet.
Radio Taiso is an exercise routine in Japan set to the melody of a piano. The routine has 3 variants: one is for the elderly, another one is to increase one's strength and lastly, one that is suitable for all ages.
Groups participating to the Radio Taiso can easily be seen in parks, schools and some offices. In Japan's population of 127 million, it is said that 20% or 25,400,000 people participates in the daily exercise routine.
Maybe this is Japan's not-so-secret to staying fit and healthy?
