Nobuharu Asahara is a former Track and Field athlete. He represented Japan in competitions and specialized in the sprints and long jump events. He won several Japanese national championships and took part in various international competitions such as the Olympics, the World Championships in Athletics, and even won silver medals in the 2002 Asian Games.
Nobuharu Asahara set the Asian record for 100 meters indoor with 10.41 seconds in Tampere, Finland. He also took part in the 4×100 meter relay at the 2008 Olympics, winning the first Olympic medal in 80 years for Japan in track races. He retired on September of 2008 and opened an athletics training camp for children.
