Jigoro Kano is a Japanese educator, athlete, and the founder of Judo. Driven by the tyranny and bullying he experienced at the age of 14, he yearned to improve his physical strength once he entered the Government English School. At the age of 15, he wanted to train in jujitsu but he kept on being rejected until he turned 18, where the elderly Sadanosuke Yagi finally agreed to tutor him. He was so dedicated to jujitsu that at age 21, he became a master. It was at that time that he reformed jujitsu by studying ancient self-defense forms and integrating them into the sport. Thus creating what is now known as Kokodan Judo. Kokodan Judo has three aims: physical education, contest proficiency, and mental training.
