The Japanese Rhythmic Gymnastics Team has been created to show the world of Japan's prowess in this sport, in worldwide events facilitated by the Federation Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG), or International Federation of Gymnastics (IFG). FIG or IFG is the body governing worldwide competitions in gymnastics.
Some of the team members include: Yuki Uchiyama, Aiko Sugihara, Marina Kawasaki, Sae Miyakawa, Mai Murakami, Natsumi Sasada, and Asuka Teramoto. Among the 11 Olympic games that the team has participated in, they just have won one bronze medal in 1964.
