Iaido is a Japanese martial art which involves the use of katana.
Iaido's history dates back to Japan, deriving from battujutsu or the art of drawing the sword and striking the enemy. Before, its principle is setsuninto, or the death-dealing blade, wherein the warriors' thinking is just to kill or be killed. Since Japan has become peaceful, sword fighting techniques has become a form of self-discipline and training. The philosophy of katsuninken, on the other hand, means the life-giving sword evolved. It is the fundamental philosophy of Iaido. The goal of iaido is to develop self-discipline, overcoming your opponent without drawing your sword unto him.
