Sapporo is Japan's fourth largest city in terms of population, and the largest among the country's northernmost island called Hokkaido. The city is famously known as being a premier venue for skiing and ice sculpture, especially with the notable events of Sapporo Snow Festival taking place during winter (or first quarter of the year).
