Smelling farts may benefit your health, lower risks of stroke, and heart attacks according to a 2014 research. According to some researchers, smelling farts could be beneficial to your health. A study made by collaborative researchers from the University of Exeter in the University of Texas and the United Kingdom provided ample evidence that hydrogen sulfide, which makes up most of the farts, could benefit the cell's mitochondria.
When veins are under stress, the cells use the enzymes to make hydrogen sulfide that allows the cells to better control the oxidative stress that if not controlled could lead to cellular damage.
The mitochondria are the cell's powerhouse that produces ATP or adenosine triphosphate.
When they exposed the cells in the blood vessels to AP39 ( a compound that mimics hydrogen sulfide), the compound preserved the cells and prevented cellular death caused by damage from inflammation. The researchers suggested that AP39
may offer benefits such as:
* Treat stroke and heart attack
* Reduce the aging effects
* Protect the brain
* Improve the health of kidney
Their findings conclude that hydrogen sulphide can be beneficial however if
you smell something more stinky gas, then it could be a sign of digestive problems such as diarrhea, and constipation or bloating.
