The prestigious Cannes Film Festival has been concluded this May and it gave the most celebrated Palme d'Or award to Japan.

The film which brought the award to Japan was entitled, Shoplifters ("Manbiki Kazoku" in Japanese, literally the Shoplifting Family).  

Directed and written by Hirokazu Koreeda, the film s about a family who seemed to make a living through a crime called shoplifting. In one of their "missions," they found a stray girl in the cold streets of Tokyo and took her home. At first, they were a picture of a happy family, until an incident happened revealing the deepest secrets that will challenge the bond among the shoplifters.
