Citing an increase in child abuse statistics, the Cabinet of Japan introduced a bill that bans parents from doing corporal punishments. The ministry made a guideline that no matter how light the punishment still, it's prohibited. The draft defines corporal punishment as a the punishment that inflicts physical discomfort and physical pain.
Examples of corporal punishment include slapping a child when they didn't listen, hitting a child after a friend does the same, and spanking the backside of the child after he/she sole something. The draft will be framework into the Amended Child Abuse Prevention Act that aims to protect children from emotional torments made by their parents.
The Japanese cabinet is still completing the guidelines of the Amended Child Abuse Prevention Act that is expected to be enforced after next spring.
