Rice is part of the staple food diet in Japan. And just like other countries in Asia, rice production in Japan has been the most important contributor to their food supply. Farmers plant them usually during the months of April-June and harvesting season take place during August-October.
About 85% of the 2.3 million farms in Japan plant rice every year.
