Kongo Gumi is the world's oldest company that still runs since its inception 1, 400 years ago (578 AD). The enterprise started when an immigrant was commissioned by Prince Shotoku to build the temple of Shitenno-ji. Until 2006, the company was family-operated when it became the subsidiary of Takamatsu.
