Kaala is a website that promotes the "incredibly invisible but very prominent" underground music scene in Japan.

Matt Ketchum, Kaala's founder, thought that the underground music in Japan deserves so much more attention and publicity. Because of this, he and his team of 8 started conducting interviews and photo shoots with various Japanese metal bands. The website also has promotional articles about the bands' upcoming tours which are all organized on the calendar page.

According to Ketchum's data, there are over 2,000 hardcore metal bands in Japan that most people do not know, and that is what Kaala aims to change.

Ketchum is currently working on going international and expanding Kaala in Pittsburgh.
