Home Economic classes in Japan features cooking various dishes that may have been simialr compared to what such classes used to do in the West, but remained fun at all.
Kateika, or Home Economics and also known as Homemaking, was usually been taught to only young girls way back then, until two decades ago, Japan decided that its lessons should also be taught to boys, too. In 1993, the subject was mandated to be part of the junior high school curriculum in 1993 and senior high school curriculum in 1994.
In fact, some schools even have male home economics teachers and cooking clubs as well.
