This beautiful and wildly-colored frog is endemic or can be seen only in the Ryukyu Islands of the Land of the Rising Sun. The Ryukyu is a set of small islands, stretching southwest, in a manner that it connects the Kyushu region of Japan to Taiwan. Also known as the Odorrana ishikawae, this species of frog belong to the Ranidae family. This family of frogs is also known as the true frogs, or those characterized with smooth and moist skin. Mostly, they live in forests in temperate regions, and in rivers. Due to its color, it can be seen as the prettiest frog in Japan.
