The Inoshishi or Japanese wild boar is also known as the white-moustached pig. This is because of prominent white whiskers extending from the corners of the mouth to their cheeks. The specie is native to Japan and can be found in the mountains and forests of Kyushu, Shikoku, Honshu and Ryukyu Islands. They are also called yama-kujira or mountain whales.
In the old days, it was believed that you can become wealthy by keeping a clump of boar's hair in your wallet.
While they may look harmless, wild boars can be easily aggrevated and attack anyone they suspect as intruders to their territory.
