In 1954, Ishirou Honda made history with the release of the very first Godzilla movie. Together with Honda, there was another man who brought Godzilla to life. He is Haruo Nakajima, the man inside the first Godzilla suit.

As preparation for the role, Nakajima studied a new elephant in Ueno Zoo for a whole week. He based the movement of Godzilla's head to that of the birds and its limbs to the bears.

Haruo Nakajima appearances and his whole career were featured in an exhibit in Sakata, Yamagata Prefecture is established to celebrate his contributions to the Japanese film industry. The exhibit almost feature the Haruo Nakajima biography.
