Hachiko is a famous Akita dog known all over the world for his remarkable loyalty to his owner. A statue was erected at the Shibuya station in 1934 to commemorate the dog who continued to wait at the station for his master's arrival even after the latter's death. After waiting all alone for 81 years at the Shibuya station, Hachiko and his owner, Ueno is finally reunited in this bronze statue constructed at the grounds of the Faculty of Agriculture in the University of Tokyo.
A lot of adaptations has already been made from its story like novels and films. Hachiko has also been featured in the popular American cartoons, Futurama. In the manga One Piece, there was also a dog named Shushu, which has the same story. In the fifth season of Pokemon entitled Pokémon: Master Quest, Ninetails has been given a similar backstory.
