At 2:46 pm of Friday, March 11, 2011, a massive magnitude 9.0 earthquake struck eastern Japan where thousands were left either dead or missing, nearly a million of building infrastructures either damaged or collapsed, nuclear accidents, tsunamis (tidal waves) surging as high as 40.5 meters (133 feet) and covering the entire Pacific Rim, and had a distinction for being the costliest natural disaster in world history.

But aside from the numerical figures reported, Curious World gathered 25 of the numerous facts that surround the tragedy and how it changed the pace of the world since then.
