At 2:46 pm of Friday, March 11, 2011, a massive magnitude 9.0 earthquake struck eastern Japan where thousands were left either dead or missing, nearly a million of building infrastructures either damaged or collapsed, nuclear accidents, tsunamis (tidal waves) surging as high as 40.5 meters (133 feet) and covering the entire Pacific Rim, and had a distinction for being the costliest natural disaster in world history.
