Technopolis was included in the album Solid State Survivor, the second one to be released by the techno band Yellow Magic Orchestra.

The Solid State Survivor won the Best Album Award at the 22nd Japan Record Awards and sold up to two million records. It also reached number 1 in the Japanese Oricon charts.

The album contained 8 tracks, including Rydeen, Absolute Ego Dance, Castalia, Behind the Mask, Day Tripper, and Insomnia. Behind the Mask is used in a 1978 Seiko commercial. Day Tripper is YMO's version of The Beatles' song with the same title.
