Yellow Magic Orchestra, also known as YMO, is a band from Japan known worldwide for their electronic or techno music. Members of the band include Haruomi Hosono on bass guitars, keyboards and vocals, Yukihiro Takahashi on drums and lead vocals, and Ryuichi Sakamoto, also on keyboards and vocals.

Haruomi Hosono, also known as Harry Hosono, is already an established musician in Japan before he formed YMO. He is already famous for his psychedelic rock band Apryl Fool. In 1977, he formed YMO with Takahashi and Sakamoto.

YMO is known to pioneer the use of synthesizers, samplers, sequencers, drum machines, computers, and digital recording technology in the pop music industry.
