Formed in 1982, X Japan is a rock band from Chiba Prefecture formed by Toshi (vocalist) and Yoshiki (drummer). The band is one of the pioneers of visual kei - a movement akin to Western glam. They have been around since the 1980s. The duo was inspired by their idols Kiss, David Bowie, traditional kabuki theatre and Maiden and decided to make the name X and added "Japan" to avoid confusion with the American band that bears the same name.
X Japan members wear huge hair, and stagewear similar to mad max style. The band was highly successful as they made a record of 30 million around the globe and sold out shows of the 55,000 people capacity at Tokyo Dome. On 1997, the band split up by performing a farewell concert in Tokyo Dome during the new year's eve. But on 2018, the band announced that they will perform in the Asahi Dream TV festival.
