The boom refers to a Japanese rock band comprising members Tochigi Takao (drummer), Takashi Kobayashi (lead guitarist), Hiromasha Yamakawa ( (bass guitarist) and Kazufumi Miyazawa (Vocalist).

The four friends and musicians from Yamanashi Prefecture formed the band in 1986. Their single "Shima Uta", released in 1993, made them famous abroad and in Japan. Among their discographies include Kaeroukuna (1994), Tegami (1995),  and albums - Faceless Man (1993), Okinawa-Watashi no Shima (2002). Their last performance was on 2014 in Okinawa.
