The title "most celebrated" can never materialize unless there will be a competitor. 

And just like AKB48, a girl idol group, can be considered as the "most celebrated" in Japan, they can never wholly claim the title unless there is a rival group of the same magnitude. 

Hence, Nogizaka 46 was born in 2011, named after the location of the office of Sony Music Japan. The group has since then released around 20 singles and 4 studio albums. 

Members of the group are slated for an upcoming Sailor Moon Musical this June and September. Mai Shiraishi will be playing Queen Serenity in the said musical.
