Nogizaka 46 is a female pop idol group, created to be the official rival of one of Japan's most celebrated idols, AKB 48.

Produced by Yasushi Akimoto, the group was said to be named after the building where Sony Music Japan is located. The place is called SME Nogizaka Building.

Announced on 2011, the group has released around 16 singles, wherein 15 reached the number 1 spot on the Oricon charts. They have released 2 albums so far, which also grabbed the first spot on the Oricon charts.
