PONPONPON is the debut single of Japanese singer and fashion model, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu which gained international popularity due to the music video’s craziness, weirdness, and cuteness. The music video was a tribute to the kawaisa and Decora culture of Japan and helped establish Kyary's image of being kawaii with a hint of weirdness. The song was released by Warner Music Japan on July 20, 2011. The song was written and produced by Yasutaka Nakata of Capsule. The song's music video became a viral hit on YouTube because of elements such as rainbow-colored outfits, toys, dancing faceless characters, skulls, and eyeballs. As of 2017, the video has over 112 million views on YouTube. Internationally, the song has been featured in G-Eazy's single "Lost in Translation", and in the American cartoon The Simpsons episode "Married to the Blob". To this day, PONPONPON remains to be Kyary Pamyu Pamyu's most well-known song.
