J-pop artist Kiriko Takemura in real life, is said to be the epitomy of Japanese kawaii-ness.
Starting her career as a fashion blogger in 2009, she immediately became a model for Kera! and Zipper, some of the most notable magazines in the world of Harajuku style.
In an interview with MTV, Takemura said that way back, she was fond of wearing blonde wigs. Thus a high school friend called here "Kyari" because she's like a gaikokujin or a foreigner. She then found that the word is something that can retain in the minds of followers, and just added the words "pamyu pamyu" because it sounded cute.
