Glay is a four-man pop rock band composed of Teru, Takuro, Hisashi, and Jiro. Takuro, the guitarist, along with Teru, the vocalist, formed the band in 1988 during high school. Their glamorous rock sound was heavily infuenced by bands such as BOOWY and The Beatles. Their name, GLAY, is a misspelling of the word, gray. This represents the blend of rock (black) and pop (white) in their music style. They were often associated with the visual kei movement but they donned a more refined image in the latter part of their career.
Since 1988, they have been one Japan's top-selling artists. They have released a total of thirteen albums, their most recent being Music Life in 2014.
