Oh yes, that is not just an adjective to describe this group. Or probably the group is just too cute that they decided to call themselves as such.

Composed of Saki Nakajima, Airi Suzuki, Maimi Yajima, Chisato Okai, and Mai Hagiwara, the Japanese idol girl group, Cute, released its first major single in 2007, entitled, Sakura Chirari. Because of this song, the group was hailed as the Best New Artist at the Japan Record Awards. The following year, the group was nominated for the Grand Prix at the same award-giving event. All the song they released reached the top 10 of the Oricon charts. 

The group was a product of the Hello! Project, led by Japanese producer and songwriter, Tsunku.
