Pop Japan

Balzac, written as BALZAC, is a Japanese punk band formed in 1992. They are considered as the counterpart of the famous American horror punk band The Misfits because of their sound and image.

The band's vocalist, Hirosuke Nishiyama created the group after his Astrozombies dissolved. Their band was named after the French novelist and playwright Honore de Balzac.

They have five official clothing brands and official record label called Evilegend 13 Records where they released EPs, videos, and singles. They release their first single "The Lord of the Light and the Darkness" on their own record label in 1993.

Because of their unique pop sound and horror image concept, they gained exposure not only in Japan but also overseas.
