Get smitten by this Japanese traditional dessert.
Zundi Mochi is literally a mochi or a sticky and chewy rice cake made of glutinous rice covered with sweet edamame or green soybeans paste called Zunda.
Often served with green tea, Zunda is considered as a dessert and is definitely sweet. However, in Northeast Japan, the Zunda Mochi has a salty version.
Zunda is also incorporated in different desserts and you will find different Zunda-flavored foods in this area. There's a Zunda ice cream and salty Zunda flavored pretzel sticks.
Zundi mocha and other Zunda flavored dessert is often served and can be bought during summer. It is because edamame is harvested during the summer season but you can also eat or make Zunda at anytime of the year because there is frozen edamame available at grocery stores on the other seasons.
