Being an archipelagic country, Japan has a lot of food products coming from the sea. One of the unique delicacies from the sea are the umibudou or the sea grapes. These grapes are actually seaweeds but instead of big leaves, they have somewhat small bubbles as leaves, thus the name "grapes." When these grapes or bubbles pop inside your mouth, they release a salty flavor, making you taste the freshness of the sea with every bite. The sensation was actually so refreshing that there is a Japanese term for it. It is called puchi-puchi.
