Tai-meshi is a Japanese dish of a mixed rice with sea bream. Its term, or oftentimes called Taimeshi, literally means “sea bream rice.” In tradition, this decision is usually believed to bring good luck because of the name tai having a similar sound to the term medetai which mean “congratulations.” Thus, this dish is known to be served during special occasions.
