Surimi or fish cake is a Japanese delicacy made from seafood paste usually fish and sometimes crustaceans. It also refers to crab sticks although this can be a misnomer as it doesn't contain crab meat. Surimi is often made from hake, and pollock fishes. You can use surimi as an ingredient for vegetable-based dishes. Surimi contains ingredients such as soy protein, whitefish, egg white, vegetable oil, starch, humectants, monosodium glutamate, transglutaminases and flavour enhancers.
