During the Meiji Era in Japan, a Scottish-born pharmacist and entrepreneur named Alexander Cameron Sim introduced a new drink in Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture. It has now become Japan's carbonated soft drink. Its name, Ramune, is derived from the English word "lemonade." The drink is also known in the name saida or cider. This drink has been known for its codd-neck bottles, The bottle is made of glass wherein a marble is placed on the neck, and is held there by the pressure of the carbonated drink. A special device is used to open the bottle. Once the bottle is opened, the marble will be pushed in the inner side of the bottle. Because of this, the drink is also known as the "marble soda."
