Pancakes had never been the same in Japan.
Okonomiyaki is the Japanese version of their own cakes made with flour. But unlike the Western version of the fluffy pancakes, which are just breads that are sometimes served with fruit and sweet toppings, the okonomiyaki has the toppings mixed in the batter instead. The dish had been widespread in Japan that different regions and prefectures had created their very own version of the said Japanese pancake.
The word okonomiyaki came from okono which means "how you like or "what you like." The word yaki means grilling or frying.
