The Masuzushi is another creative form of your favorite bite-sized rice chunks with toppings. This is actually like a pizza sushi. The base or what can be considered as crust is the rice. The top is then lined with sashimi. The whole circular crust of rice is then wrapped in bamboo leaves to preserve the flavor. They are then sliced into triangular pieces, just like pizza, and then served in ekibens or bento meals sold in ekis or train stations. The dish is said to have originated in Toyama.
