Pickled vegetables are staple in every Japanese meal. Sushi has also been one of the most popular rice dishes in Japan. The kaburazushi is actually a combination of both, and is actually considered as a pickled sushi. It is usually made of fresh buri or saba, which are Japanese seasonal fish, sandwiched between crunchy turnips breads. The dish sometimes contain some carrot for more flavor. The food is said to have originated in Toyama Prefecture and has since been a traditional Japanese food for autumn and winter. This dish is also sometimes called radish sushi.
