Ramen is a Japanese dish loved by many. It consists of Chinese-style wheat noodles served with meat or fish-based broth, often flavored with soy sauce or miso, and uses toppings such as sliced pork, dried seaweed, green onions, and mushroom.
Shingeto Kamada, owner of Kambi Ramen House at East Village, New York City, teaches how to eat ramen the traditional way. First, start by sampling or testing the broth or soup. Like most of the people do, drinking from the bowl is definitely okay. Second, slurp your ramen to enjoy the broth and noodles together. The egg is eaten separately. On the other hand, mushroom is eaten together with noodles. Most of us takes a lot of time eating ramen, but according to Shingeto-san, you shouldn’t take a lot of time eating ramen. It should be enjoyed while it is hot or the soup will simply evaporate and the noodles will expand.
