Porcupine fish, or ‘blow fish’, is a fish with sharp spines and even poison. The spiky fish needs to be carefully prepared before being consumed. The first thing to do is take out the spikes, the fins, and its eyes. The beautiful presentation of the sashimi makes it hard to believe that the beautiful, glistening and pinkish sliced meat is the tail of the blowfish.
Another way to eat the blowfish is fried or as a soup. The rest of the blowfish can all be prepared, except for the insides where some species have poison. The body is continually doused in hot water and boiled repeatedly. The different parts are then fried and boiled before beings served.
