The omurice, or omuraisu as it is called in Japan, is a fusion of Western and Eastern cuisine. It is basically fried rice wrapped in omelette. Vegetables and meat are added into the rice for that extra punch of nutrition and flavor. It is famous all around Japan, and the world as well.
The secret to a good omurice is a fluffy egg. In order to that, milk and mayonnaise can be whisked in the egg to give an additional richness and texture. Toppings such as green onions can also be used to decorate the meal. The omurice can be found in many Western food diners in Japan.
