Dazaifu is a city located in Fukuoka Prefecture, south of Japan. The place has been famous for rice paddies, market gardening, Shinto temples, nature and agriculture. Because of this, architects Kengo Kuma and Associates decided to make the Starbucks branch in the city as endemic to the city as possible. By making use of a huge number of wood batons, they installed these diagonal lattices that made this coffe branch stand out among the rest in the world. The architects has designed this coffee shop after the Dazaifu Tenmangu or the Dazaifu temple located in Fukuoka.
