Black Asian Wasp (Hornet) Festival

Gifu prefecture is known for its hornet festival that celebrates eating of hornet larvae. The participants wore a hazmat like a suit to protect themselves from the stinging adult hornets. Like other edible insects, the wasp larvae and adults can be stir-fried, deep-fried or added to dishes.
