Home-cooked packed meals has never been the same without the lovely bento from Japan. They are usually single-portioned meals consisting of rice, fish or meat, some pickled or cooked vegetables, placed in square lunch boxes and mostly wrapped in the Japanese Furoshiki way, or the traditional cloth wrapping. Bentos have become a convenient meal for everyone, being available in 24/7 stores, bento shops, railway stations and department stores.
But nothing beats a bento lunch created with love and at home. There is actually the bento styling technique called kyaraben, decorating your bento with popular characters or cute food, like the one in the photo.
