Babahera ice cream came from the word Japanese word "Baba" or grandmother and "Hera" or Ice cream scoop. The ice cream is rose in shape and often sold in small carts. The vendors, mostly old women, skillfully scope a little portion and form them onto the cone until the rose or tulip shape emerges. Babahera ice cream is sold as part of the summer tradition in Akita city, Akita Prefecture.
