Anpan is a circular Japanese bun filled with filling such as sweet red bean, chestnut, green beans, white beans and some condiments that will make the bread tastier. It originated from the Meiji period when samurais assumed jobs as bakers when they lost their occupations due to the dissolution of the samurai as a social class. Enjoy this bread bun as breakfast, afternoon snack or dessert.
