Youtube users TabiEats goes to a popular food shop in Akita area and tried two of their famous dishes Kitanpo and Oyako Donburi.

Kitanpo is the area's most popular dish. It is a rice meal that is formed like a tube around Japanese cedar skewers and toasted over an open hearth. This Japanese regional dish is either served with sweet miso or used as dumplings in soups.

Oyaku Donburi, oftentimes known as Oyakudon, is a rice bowl dish which has egg and their local chicken, another item that Akita is popularly known for. The term "Oyakudon" literally means parent-and-child donburi. Hence, giving the reason for naming this chicken-and-egg rice bowl as such.
