One of Okinawa's gems is the agu pork. The pork comes from a pig traditionally bred in Okinawa. It is a black-haired wild boar that is famous for its tender, sweet, and flavorful meat. The Agu is said to have three times the flavor of an ordinary pork. It is rich but it is not greasy. The pork is usually served in shabu-shabu style. The pork is thinly sliced, and vegetables are added in a stock. The fat from the pork would blend well with the broth, making the soup burst with flavor. It is one of the most popular dishes in Okinawa.
