It started out as the Unique Clothing Warehouse in Fukuro-machi, Naka-ku, Hiroshima in May 1984. When you combined the first two syllables of the first word of their name, and then the first syllable of the second word, you could get uni-clo. They are supposed to register their business under this name when in 1988, when they were working on some partnerships in Hong Kong, one of the in-charge personnels mistook the "c" for a "Q". Hence the ever famous Uniqlo brand was formed. Since then, the worldwide invasion of this casual wear fashion brand from Japan has been unstoppable.
