Kigurumi is a one-piece costume made of soft polyester fleece. The term came from two Japanese words: kiru, meaning to wear, and nuigurumi, which means stuffed toy. Kigurumi designs are usually animals or cute mascots like Hello Kitty, Pikachu and other designs. It can be worn as a costume for conventions, parties, theme parks and other places where wearing mascot costume seems to be too flashy.

Because of its warmth and comfort, people tend to use the kigurumi as pajamas or for sleepwear fashion. In other countries, it is referred to as animal onesies, because of its being a one piece clothing.
